영화 산업계, 해적판 영화 호스팅 사이트의 차단 방법을 요구하다.(2011.06.27)

Motion Picture 연합(MPA)은 유출된 영화를 호스팅하는 웹사이트로의 접근을 불가능하게 하기 위한 금지 명령을 요구하 고 있다. MPA는 BT가 Newzbin 사이트를 차단하기 위한 아동 포르노 차단을 위해 사용되는 것과 같은 기술을 사용하기 원한다. BT는 영국에서 가장 큰 인터넷 서비스 제공자(ISP)이며 Cleanfeed라 불리는 사이트 차단 시스템을 다른 ISP에 제공하기 때문에 금지명령의 타겟으로 선택되었다. MPA는 MPAA의 국제적인 카운터파트이다.

Film Industry Seeks to Block Site That Hosts Pirated Movies(June 27, 2011)
The Motion Picture Association is seeking an injunction that would force BT to sever access to a website that hosts pirated films. The MPA wants BT to use the same technology that it uses to block child pornography sites to block the Newzbin site. BT was chosen as the target of the injunction because it is the largest Internet service provider (ISP) in the UK and because it provides a site blocking system called Cleanfeed to other ISPs. The MPA is the international counterpart to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

불법복재 소프트웨어를 판매에 대한 형기(2010.10.29-30)

텍사스 출신 Todd Alan Cook은 온라인으로 불법 소프트웨어를 판매하다가 18개월 형을 선고받았으며 판사는 또한 대략 미화 60만 달러를 Cook에게 배상하라고 명령했다. 올해 초 Cook은 형사상의 저작권 위반에 대해 유죄라고 진술했다. 거의 2년동안 Cook과 그의 아버지 Robert D. Cook, 그리고 또 다른 한 명은 위조 소프트웨어를 판매하기 위한 웹사이트를 운영했다. 해적판 소프트웨어의 가치는 대략  미화 백만달러 이상일 것으로 추정된다. 나이많은 Cook은 12월 3일 선고받기로 예정되어 있다. 

Prison Term for Selling Pirated Software(October 29 & 30, 2010)
A Texas man, Todd Alan Cook, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for selling pirated software online.  The judge in the case also ordered Cook to pay nearly US $600,000 in restitution.  Earlier this year Cook pleaded guilty to criminal copyright infringement.  For nearly two years, Cook and his father, Robert D. Cook and a third individual,
operated websites through which they sold counterfeit software.  The value of the pirated software has been estimated at more than US $1 million.  The elder Cook is scheduled for sentencing on December 3.
